Nicollette Sheridan and Michael BoltonDesperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan and her fiance Michael Bolton have split up after a two year engagement.

The couple originally dated for five years in the mid-1990s but split up in 1997 before reconciled in 2005. They then announced their engagement in March 2006 and earlier this year, Nicollette said they were just looking for the perfect place for the ceremony and once they found it, they’d marry quickly.

However, a spokesperson for the couple yesterday confirmed that the pair had “amicably ended their engagement”.

An inside source denied rumours that Nicollette’s desire for a child had driven a wedge between the pair as Michael, already a father of three from a previous relationship, wasn’t willing to go through 3am feeds and everything again: “Nicollette does want to be a mom and knows she needs to do it sooner rather than later but that wasn’t the cause.

“It was more a collection of a hundred different little things. Sometimes those things just get to be too much and it’s better to end the relationship than fight each other for the rest of your life.”
