David DuchovnyDavid Duchovny has checked into rehab for sex addiction.

The X-Files star issued a statement about his admission through his lawyer yesterday, saying: “I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction.

“I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.”

David and wife Tea Leoni have repeated denied rumours of a sex addiction during their 11 year marriage but earlier this year, David admitted that he found it hard to believe that a man and woman could ever be faithful to each other: “You certainly know if you are profoundly interested in somebody else. Every man feels that, don’t they? But dare he admit it?”

The couple have two children together - nine year old daughter Madelaine and six year old son Kyd.
