Gary Lineker gets engaged to girlfriend of a year Danielle Bux

Gary Lineker has got engaged to girlfriend Danielle Bux after a year of dating.

A source close to the footballer turned TV commentator told the Mirror they are planning to marry in 2010 after Gary proposed last month: “They didn’t want to make a big announcement, but it’s true they’re engaged and very happy.

“They are happy for people to know and looking forward to planning a special ceremony.”

A spokesperson for Gary confirmed the announcement to the Daily Mail, saying: “Yes, that is correct, they are engaged.”

The couple met on a blind date set up by friends in 2007, a year after Gary divorced wife of nearly 20 years Melanie. Gary has four sons - aged between 10-16 - from his marriage while Danielle has a six year old daughter from a previous relationship.
