Russell Brand forced to apologise over purity ring jokes at MTV VMAs
MTV VMAs host Russell Brand was forced to apologise after poking fun at the Jonas Brothers‘ decision to wear Purity Rings.
During his opening monologue, Russell repeated joked about the brothers’ pledge to not have sex before marriage, saying they should take advantage of their celebrity status to get laid. He also added that he’d stolen one of their virginities as he held a ring in his hand.
But moments later, he was chastised by American Idol winner Jordin Sparks who said: “It’s not bad to wear a promise ring because not everybody, guy or girl, wants to be a slut.”
Russell then apologised saying: “I’ve gotta say sorry because I said those things about promise rings; that was bad of me. I didn’t mean to take it lightly.
“I love Jonas Brothers, I think [the pledge is] really good. I don’t want to piss off teenage fans… Promise rings, I’m well up for it, well done everyone.
But added: “It’s just, a bit of sex occasionally never hurt anybody.”

MTV got exactly what it was they were looking for. A controversial host to be their circus ring leader. The MTV awards thrives on this. They encourage it, in hopes of generating TV ratings. Remember all the publicity stunts this show has done in the past in the name of ratings?.Madonna kissing Britney,Kid Rock being seated next to Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee,who Kid Rock ended up punching during the show. It`s a circus act.
