Pete Wentz: we’re not expecting twins but friends think it’s a boy
Pete Wentz has denied he and wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz are following in the latest celebrity trend by having twins.
Rumours began to swirl that the couple were expecting twins after Pete accidentally called the unborn baby “them” during a radio interview in June but he then explained he only meant it as a gender-neutral pronoun, because they didn’t know whether it would be a boy or a girl.
However his friend, hip hop star Tyga helped fuel the rumours by telling E! News at the weekend that it was set to be a multiple birth.
Speaking at the MTV VMAs on Sunday, Tyga admitted that he “probably started” the rumour and Pete added that people shouldn’t be thinking it’ll be twins, because then: “It’s going to be a big disappointment when it’s only one!”
However, the rumour/denial process hasn’t stopped other friends of Pete’s throwing in their two cents about the pregnancy: Gym Class Heroes star Travis McCoy and Panic at the Disco’s Ryan Ross both think Ashlee’s expecting a baby boy.
Ryan explained: “I think it’s a baby boy. [Pete] will probably teach his kid to play terrible pranks on us. But not if we teach him first!”
Travis added: “[The baby’s] sneaker collection is going to be ridiculous. [And] I get to be uncle Travee!”
Pete and Ashlee confirmed the pregnancy in May shortly after their wedding. The baby is due towards the end of the year.
