Adele worried about wearing £20,000 earrings to award show

Adele has revealed she was incredibly nervous at the Mercury Awards in London last night - because her earrings were so expensive.

Throughout the ceremony, she kept checking to make sure the £20,000 jewels were still in place and later explained: “I’m worried I’m going to get drunk and lose my earrings.

“They’re made of diamonds and are clip-ons. They cost £20,000 and they’re not mine.

“I’m used to Argos’s Elizabeth Duke range myself.”

Adele’s debut album ‘19′ was nominated for the prestigious prize alongside Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows’ and Estelle’s ‘Shine’ but the prize eventually went to Elbow’s ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’. Previous winners have included Arctic Monkeys, Dizzee Rascal, Badly Drawn Boy and Gomez.
