Sources close to the couple claim the split happened earlier this week came Daisy found out Mark wouldn’t be in London next week to support her during her catwalk turns at Fashion Week: “Mark is not coming to London. He and Daisy had a row over something small which escalated into something rather big.

“Daisy got very upset and shot at Mark that she was leaving him. He completely surprised her by saying, ‘Fine, leave’. That was it. They haven’t spoken since the argument.”

The source added that the split was inevitable because they wanted different things: “Daisy is a girl about town just finding her feet on the party scene and loving every minute of it.

“She is still a teenager and although she’s got a wise head on her shoulders, she’s still a very young woman. But Mark is the opposite. Despite his party-boy image, Mark’s quite serious and just wants to meet the right girl and settle down.

“She comes over as being very mature for her years and incredibly sophisticated but at heart she’s still a little girl who’s not ready to settle down.

“They’re in different places at the moment and they both need some time and space to think about things. Mark’s at the top of his game. He’s very self-assured and confident and he knows what he wants. Daisy still has quite a lot of growing up to do.”

A spokesperson for Daisy confirmed the split yesterday, adding: “But it’s a private matter between Daisy and Mark and there is nothing more to add.”
