britney spearsBritney Spears‘ record company Jive has confirmed rumours that the star’s next album will be released in December.

Initially planned for next year, Britney’s sixth studio album ‘Circus’ will now be released on 1st December, a day before the singer’s 27th birthday. The first single from the album, ‘Womanizer’, is rumoured to be set for release in November.

The release of the album is said to have been brought forward following Britney’s recent wins at the MTV VMAs - she picked up the “Best Female Video”, “Best Pop Video” and “Video of the Year” awards at the ceremony last weekend for her single ‘Pieces of Me’ from her previous album ‘Blackout’.

An inside source added: “Britney and the producers are still putting the final touches on the album but it looks like it’s going to be fantastic.

“In many ways it’s classic Britney but at the same time, it’s more mature and reflects what she’s been through over the last few years.”
