Shannen Doherty: I crashed a 90210 car but let someone else take the blame

Shannen Doherty has revealed she once crashed a car on the set of Beverly Hills 90210 and let a castmate take the blame.

She explained recently that she was desperate to drive the Corvette that co-star Ian Ziering’s character Steve Sanders drove in the 1990s teen show - but when he finally said yes, she crashed it: “I wanted to drive the Corvette so badly. We took it and I went too fast and hit this bump and it bottomed out.

“Ian was so sweet he took the blame for it.”

The actress recently resurrected her own character in the show, Brenda Walsh, for the new spin-off show 90210, about a new set of teens making their way through West Beverly High. But she is only signed up to appear in four episodes of the series for now - and she’s not particularly interested in appearing in many more: “I think there’s such a thing as overstaying your welcome.

“I don’t want to do that. I want fans to walk away with love in their hearts for Brenda.”
