Travis Barker & Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein expected to make full recovery after plane crash

Travis Barker and Nicole Richie’s former fiance Adam Goldstein (aka DJ AM) are both expected to make full recoveries despite being in seriously burnt in a plane crash just after midnight on Saturday morning.

The pair had been playing at a college event in South Carolina on Friday night before boarding a Learjet with a security guard Charles Still and Travis’ assistant Chris Baker.

A spokesperson for the airport, Columbia Metropolitan Airport, explained: “The plane crashed on take-off and went through a fence near Highway 302, then crossed the road and went up an embankment before being filled with flames. There was debris all over the runway.”

Still and Baker, along with pilot Sarah Lemmon and co-pilot James Bland, were killed in the crash but Travis and Adam are said to have jumped to safety after the craft finally stopped moving.

They were both transported to hospital in Augusta, George and are currently being treated at the city’s Joseph M. Still Burn Center.

A spokesperson for the facility confirmed that both were in “a critical but stable condition”, with second and third-degree burns but are expected to make a full recovery. Travis is mostly injured around his torso while Adam is burnt on his hands and head.

Travis’ ex-wife - and the mother of his two children, four year old son Landon and two year old daughter Alabama - Shanna Moakler has flown out from Los Angeles to be with the former Blink 182 drummer. Her mum Gail Moakler told People magazine: “We’re totally crushed. There’s still love between them. They may be divorced, but they’re still very close. She spends a lot of time with him. Their priorities are their kids.”

A source close to Nicole Richie have added that she’s “in shock” about the crash, telling Us Weekly: “She wishes only the best for Adam and hopes he recovers from this. She’s horribly upset about the people who died.”

Her current fiance Joel Madden also “knows Travis and also feels terrible and hopes they recover. This is terrible news for both of them.”

An investigation to find the cause of the crash has begun.
