george michaelGeorge Michael has been arrested on drug charges after being found in possession of both cannabis and crack cocaine.

The former Wham star was arrested by police after a tip-off at the underground toilets on Hampstead Heath on Friday afternoon.

A police spokesperson confirmed last night: “A 45-year-old man was arrested at 2pm on Friday on suspicion of possession of drugs. He was taken to a North London police station where he was interviewed and cautioned for possession of a Class A and a Class C drug. He has been released and there will be no further action.”

Possession of the drugs could have resulted in a maximum of a 9 month prison sentence and a £5500 fine but George was only given a former caution because of the specific “circumstances and context” of his arrest.

Last month, George completed his “final” world tour, saying he was leaving behind the “bells and whistles” of large-scale arena and stadium tours to have a “quieter life”.

George has previously admitted addiction to cannabis and prescription drugs, following arrests for driving while unfit in 2006.

However, a source close to the singer told the Mail on Sunday that the crack cocaine charge is a concern: “George has always liked smoking a bit of dope and he’s taken it a bit too far sometimes but he’s never really gone much further. It’s pretty worrying.”
