Emma Watson to take break from acting for university next year
Emma Watson has confirmed she’s going to take a break from acting to go to university next year.
The Harry Potter star is currently taking a year out after gaining straight A grades in her A levels in English Literature, Geography and Art and told the Daily Telegraph recently: “I would like to go to university and complete a degree and so that will mean a break from acting.
“I’ve always tried to balance my education with my acting career, but I just don’t think it will be possible to juggle it with a degree course. I have a need now to study.”
She added that she’s not yet decided whether to follow her parents Chris and Jacqueline to Oxford, go elsewhere in the UK or pick a college in the US: “If I stay in this country I will read English Literature, and if I go to America I will do a Liberal Arts programme.
“There are excellent universities over there and I am applying at the moment.”
Producers of the remaining two Harry Potter films - both based around the final book in the series Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - are said to have agreed to bring filming forward so that it doesn’t intefere with Emma’s academic plans. Filming is expected to be completed by next autumn, with the films due out in November 2010 and May 2011.
