Kanye West won’t be charged with a felony over airport paparazzi scuffle
Kanye West will not face felony level charges for his airport paparazzi tussle earlier in the month - but may still face a misdemeanor level charge.
The rapper and his road manager Don Crawley were arrested at LAX in Los Angeles on 11th September on vandalism charges after allegedly breaking a photographer’s camera. The camera was valued at more than $10,000 so the crime was deemed a felony. Both men were later released on bail.
However, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has now announced that the severity of the charges has been reduced but the LA City Attorney’s Office is still reviewing the case for a possible misdemeanor charge.
Kanye is said to have reacted when the paparazzo attempted to take photographs of him in the American Airlines terminal at the airport. Afterwards, Kanye and his group attempted to board their flight but were stopped by police before reaching their gate. No one was hurt in the scuffle.
