Heather Locklear released without bail after DUI arrest
Heather Locklear was released by police yesterday after spending the night in a cell following on suspicion of driving while impaired.
The former Melrose Place star was arrested on Saturday afternoon while driving in the Santa Barbara area of California. Onlookers reported her for “driving erratically” while pulling out of a parking lot then the California Highway Patrol found her car parked on a highway, blocking a lane.
A CHP spokesperson explained: “Around 4:30pm, a female witness saw Heather Locklear driving erratically while leaving a parking lot.
“The witness said Locklear was revving her engine loudly, and backed over a pair of sunglasses several times.”
“The witness called 911 because she was concerned for Locklear’s safety. When a CHP officer arrived, Locklear was found seated inside her vehicle, which was partially blocking the roadway.”
The field officer arrested Heather after she appeared to be “disoriented and impaired” and she was taken to a local police station for drug and alcohol testing: “Alcohol was ruled out as a factor, but based on the officer’s observations, we believe Locklear was under the influence of prescription medication.”
Heather was said to have been cooperative with police and after spending the night at the station, was released under her own recognizance yesterday, without having to post bail.
Heather spent the summer at an Arizona medical facility in an effort to beat her ongoing problems with anxiety and depression.
In March this year, Heather’s ex-husband Richie Sambora was caught drink driving in Laguna Beach, California, with their 10 year old daughter Ava in the car. He was placed on probation after pleading guilty.
