Kelly Osbourne: I have STD tests four times a year to be safe
Kelly Osbourne has revealed she is regularly tested for sexually transmitted diseases for “peace of mind”.
As an ambassador for World Contraception Day, which took place last Friday, Kelly told New magazine that she saw her first condom when she was “about seven or eight”: “I was on tour with my dad [Ozzy Osbourne] and at every single one of his shows, they hand out condoms.
“I was about seven or eight and I picked up a packet and was like, ‘Mum, what’s this?’ She had to explain to me what they were. It was something my parents had never been shy about.
“They always told us what they think and that we should protect ourselves.”
But that didn’t stop her being confused about things after she lost her virginity: “I convinced myself I was pregnant when I was 13 and I hadn’t even got my period.
“There are so many rumours and also so much wrong information being passed around, so it is a really important message the World Contraception Day is trying to give out.”
Now she’s completely on top of her sexual health: “I go three, maybe four times a year to get tested [for sexually transmitted infections] and most of the time I don’t even need to. I just go for peace of mind.”
