Leighton Meester steps out to help stamp out domestic abuse

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester took to the red carpet in New York last night to help end domestic violence.

The fashionista explained she was moved to take part in the 15th annual Shop ‘Til It Stops campaign because it’s an issue that can affect everyone: “I think it’s an issue that everyone can take part in because it applies to everyone.

“You can be a victim or someone you love can be a victim. The more people are aware, the more it can be prevented.”

“No matter who is affected by domestic violence, I take it personally, so I think it’s partly my responsibility to talk about it.”

Leighton donated a pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes to the campaign.
