madonnaMadonna’s spokesperson has denied the singer had a cosy dinner with baseball star Alex Rodriguez in New York on Tuesday night.

The pair were rumoured to have had dinner together at Dos Caminos Third Avenue, sitting at a private alcove-like table at the back of the restaurant and with onlookers telling Us Weekly the pair “seemed very close”.

However, spokespeople for both parties deny they ate together, with a source close to Madonna telling the New York Post that she ate with two male friends and it was just a coincidence that Alex was there too: “Madonna entered through the front door half an hour after A-Rod arrived and had her security guards check the exits before she sat down at a quiet corner table.”

Madonna and the New York Yankees star were initially linked in July when Alex was rumoured to have made a number of late night visits to Madonna’s New York apartment. The rumours came in the middle of a glut of stories about Madonna’s marriage to Guy Ritchie being in trouble and a few weeks later, Alex’s wife of four years Cynthia filed for divorce citing her husband’s infidelity. Both parties have denied any romance between the two stars.
