Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding: I used to party because I was sad and lonely
Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding has revealed that she turned to partying in the early days of the girl group because she was so unhappy.
In the new group biography ‘Dreams That Glitter’, Sarah revealed: “I was totally miserable for the first three years of Girls Aloud.
“I just didn’t feel I belonged… I probably alienated myself from the girls and it affected my relationship with them for a while.
“I was having a really bad time and [after she split from long-term boyfriend Mikey Green,] everything just hit me. I nearly had a nervous breakdown. I hadn’t got any friends in London, no family.
“I started drinking a bit too much and felt I had to get home to my mum. I’d not solidified my relationship with the girls, my relationship with Mikey had broken down and I had nothing left.
“I was fragile for a little while but [eventually I] just got on with things, concentrated on my career.”
The singer is now in a stable relationship with DJ Tom Crane and the pair have said they’ll marry when the time is right.
Do you think Katie Price's marriage to Alex Reid will last?
