Angelina Jolie: I love what we’ve got but it would be nice to be normal sometimes
Angelina Jolie has said that she feels blessed to have her children and partner Brad Pitt in her life - but wishes their lives could be a bit more normal some of the time.
Speaking in New York while promoting her new film Changeling over the weekend, she said: “I feel so blessed that every day I wake up and I live with my favourite people in the world and my best friend. I live with Brad who, more than me, has had to deal with fame, so we share that together and we find a way to make it fine and fun.
“We’re grateful for everything we have, but I wish I could just walk down the street with my kids and take them to get an ice cream, like my mom did with me.
The New York promotional sojourn aside, the family are currently staying in Berlin while Brad films Inglorious Bastards with Quentin Tarantino. Angelina is currently focusing on caring for their six children - including 10 week old babies Knox and Vivienne - but hopes to return to work in the new year: “We had a big discussion about whether I should go back to work at all, but Brad said it was a part of me as well and it would be all right, so we’re trying to balance it all.”
She added that even having to juggle their careers with bringing up six children, she doesn’t think their family is complete yet: “It’s fun and it’s lovely - the thing about having six is once you’ve passed three or four, it’s so crazy anyway that it’s just more chaos and it’s all OK.
“My life is being with my family and my family is so real and so close and so happy I wake up every day and want to make sure everybody’s healthy. My kids bring me so much joy and peace. I really don’t care about anything else.
“I could have the worst day in the world with people saying the most horrible things about me, but I go home and my kids love me and I feel like the most important person in the world.”
