Jennifer LopezJennifer Lopez has reportedly admitted she had a nervous breakdown in 2001.

In an interview rumoured to have been conducted for Elle magazine but then pulled because it got “much too personal”, Jennifer is quoted as saying she had a breakdown while filming psychological thriller Enough at the height of her ‘J.Lo’ era and just before she married second husband Cris Judd: “I was like - I don’t want to move. I don’t want to talk. I don’t want to do anything. I had a nervous breakdown.

“There were no signs leading up to it. You really don’t know what’s happening at first. I was going, what’s going on? It’s funny what tricks your mind plays on you. I just didn’t want people to think I was falling apart.”

She blamed the breakdown on overwork and stress - and worried her problems would return in the form of post-natal depression after giving birth to her twins Max and Emme at the start of this year: “People kept prepping me for it, but it didn’t happen.

“At the tenth day after giving birth all that chemical stuff did peak - that hormone thing - and I did cry a lot that day because I was having so much trouble moving [after her caesarean section].

“I couldn’t get up fast enough to feed the babies. It went on for about three days. [Husband] Marc [Anthony] was helping out a lot and I was crying and crying and going, ‘Oh, Papi, they’re going to know everybody more than me … They’re going to love everybody more than me!’”

But now both she and the babies are doing well. She told Entertainment Tonight recently: “[the babies] are so great! They’re getting so big. They’re sitting up and have little teeth coming out.

“Max is like Marc. He’s got Marc’s lungs, and he screams and he’s strong, very boy. Emme’s very delicate and quiet, but you can’t mess with her!”
