Beyonce KnowlesBeyonce Knowles has finally spoken about her wedding to Jay-Z, more than six months after the couple tied the knot.

The pair married in a secret, intimate ceremony at Jay-Z’s New York apartment on the 4th of April but not only did they not release any pictures or details about the nuptials, they even refused to confirm the marriage had taken place.

Now Beyoncé has told Essence magazine that she is not a “traditional woman” and didn’t feel the need to have an elaborate event: “It’s been ‘my day’ so many days already.”

The former Destiny’s Child star has been repeated pictured wearing a $5million, 18-carat diamond ring over the last few months, suggesting that is her wedding ring, but she said she didn’t want an engagement ring as well: “People put too much emphasis on that. It’s just material and it’s just silly to me.”

“What Jay and I have is real. It’s not about interviews or getting the right photo op. It’s real.

“We’ve been together a long time. We always knew [marriage] would happen.”
