Charlie BrookEastenders star Charlie Brooks has said she doubts she’ll ever marry after she split up from the man she thought was her Mr Right.

Charlie, who is set to return to the soap as bad girl Janine Butcher, split from fiance Tony Truman in 2006 after a relationship of five years, which resulted in their daughter Kiki, now three.

Charlie told The People newspaper recently: “I’m in a place in my head where I don’t think I’ll ever want to get married.

“Maybe I’m just a bit disillusioned with the whole idea. I was engaged to Tony, who I honestly believed was The One, and when it turned out that we weren’t right for each other it did set me thinking, ‘How would you ever know if you’d really met Mr Right?’

“I was only 19 when I first met Tony and I hadn’t realised how much growing and changing happens in your late teens and early twenties. We just became different people.

“Having said that, I still love him loads. We still go on holiday together, cook for each other and spend time at each other’s houses. And even though I don’t think we’ll ever get back together we will always be co-parents to Kiki and I will always think of him as family.

“I’d like another baby one day and now would certainly be a great age for Kiki to have a brother or sister. Occasionally, Tony and I have a joke and say, ‘Ooh shall we make another one?’ But we ARE joking.”

She added: “I’m not unhappy being single. In fact I find it very liberating and I’m not actively looking for a relationship.

“Who knows, may be one day I’ll meet someone and think about it again. But for the moment I’m happy being able to give Kiki my undivided attention.”
