Vanessa Hudgens: it wasn’t Zac Efron who got attacked - it was me!
Vanessa Hudgens has corrected reports that her boyfriend and High School Musical co-star Zac Efron was attacked by a man in London last week - the man was going for her instead.
The couple were making their way through a crush of screaming fans at the Apollo Theatre on Wednesday night after watching Josh Hartnett in the stage adaptation of Rain Man when an older man, presumed to be in his 40s, grabbed at them.
Vanessa told Access Hollywood: “I actually got hit in the face! If anything, I was the one who got attacked, not Zac.
“There was a guy who was walking down the street and I think he was a little drunk and he got pushed into the craziness of it all. He was blocking the door so our bodyguard had to push him aside.
“I looked in the mirror and got a huge scratch and I was bleeding.”
Zac added that he didn’t realise anything was afoot until they got in their car and he saw Vanessa’s cheek: “I just heard about it. I was just focused on [the] van door - I’ve gotta get to it. I got in the van and we drove away. I don’t remember getting harassed.”
The couple were in the UK for the premiere of High School Musical 3: Senior Year in Leicester Square on Tuesday evening. They returned to the US on Thursday.
