David & Victoria Beckham theft case: a third person is arrested
David and Victoria Beckham’s housekeepers’ son has also been arrested on suspicion of theft after personal items belonging to the famous couple appeared on eBay last week.
Eric and June Emmett, the Beckham’s housekeepers at their Hertfordshire home known as ‘Beckingham Palace’, were arrested on Friday after Victoria’s parents Tony and Jackie Adams spotted the items on the internet auction site. Their 25 year old son Gareth went voluntarily to police on Monday evening, where he too was arrested.
The Emmetts insist that it is all a misunderstanding and that they were given the items - including designer clothing, David’s old football kits including boots from England matches and one-off sentimental items - by the Beckhams.
Eric Emmett said last night: “We’re totally innocent. It’s a total fabrication. It’s all got totally out of control.
“There is absolutely nothing in it. We have never taken anything from them ever - end of story.
“We had free access to the house and I looked after the cars and other bits. My wife has known Victoria for ten years. It’s a misunderstanding.”
David and Victoria are said to have been “shaken” by the incident and are reviewing security at the property as well as at their current home in Los Angeles and their holiday home in France.
