Taylor MomsenGossip Girl star Taylor Momsen was released from hospital yesterday after receiving treatment for a “potentially life-threatening” infection.

The 15 year old actress was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Sunday after she “woke up with a sore throat”.

A source close to the family told Us Weekly: “She thought it was just a common cold, but was advised to see an ear, nose and throat specialist before getting on a plane back to New York.”

Her doctor at the medical facility Shawn Nasseri added: “She has been hospitalized for a severe, potentially life-threatening throat infection since Sunday.

“She has been an excellent patient, and after aggressive antibiotics and medications, she is expected to make a full recovery in the next three to five days.”

A spokesperson for the teen drama said they are expecting Taylor back on set tomorrow: “Taylor Momsen is a beloved member of our Gossip Girl cast and we are happy to report she is on the road to a speedy recovery. We all look forward to her planned return to work on Friday.”
