Little Britain’s Matt Lucas granted divorce from partner Kevin McGee

Matt Lucas has divorced partner Kevin McGee, just 18 months after the couple married in a civil partnership.

After meeting in a nightclub in 2002, the couple lived together for four years before their civil ceremony - followed by a celebrity-packed, pantomime-themed reception - in December 2006.

However, the Little Britain star announced their separation in June this year on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour”, with Matt’s work commitments said to have put pressure on the relationship.

The divorce, technically a dissolution, was finalised yesterday but the pair are still said to be discussing a financial settlement for Kevin - which could cost Matt around £5million.

A legal expert explained: “The provisions for financial orders are basically the same for heterosexual and same sex couples. The court will look at what had been built up by the couple in the six years and divide it pretty equally.”
