Billie Piper likely to stay in hospital for a week after emergency C-section

Billie Piper may have to remain in hospital for a week following her emergency Caesarian section in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The former Doctor Who star had been in labour for 26 hours before doctors decided to operate. Son Winston James Fox arrived safely around 1am but speaking to reporters outside the Portland Hospital in London yesterday, Billie’s husband, new dad Laurence Fox explained: “The caesarean was quite a major thing.

“She might not be ready to go home for five days to a week.”

Laurence, who was wearing a rosette declaring he is a “Fabby Daddy”, added that he wasn’t sure where the inspiration came from for his son’s name: “Who knows, but it’s a good name.”

Billie and Laurence married on New Years Eve last year and Winston is a first child for both of them. Billie was previously married to radio presenter Chris Evans, who was one of her first visitors and announced the birth on his radio show on Tuesday. Chris is expecting his own baby with new wife Natasha Shishmanian at the end of the year.
