Joaquin Phoenix: I’m done with acting
Joaquin Phoenix has reportedly decided to retire from Hollywood.
The Walk the Line star, who turned 34 yesterday, told Extra recently: “I’m not doing films any more.
“I’m working on my music. I’m done [with acting]. I’ve been through that.”
When asked for further confirmation, his spokesperson is quoted as saying: “That is what he told me.”
Joaquin began acting - under the name Leaf Phoenix - at the age of eight but rose to prominence as an adult actor, receiving Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for his role in 2000’s Gladiator. He received more nominations - and the Golden Globe trophy - for his portrayal of Johnny Cash in 2005’s Walk the Line opposite Reese Witherspoon.
