Britney SpearsBritney Spears has agreed to her dad Jamie Spears having permanent legal control over her and her assets.

Jamie, and attorney Andrew Wallet, were initially awarded conservatorship of the singer in February this year after she was hospitalised on a psych hold for the second time in less than a month. The control order has since been extended on a number of occasions and was set to expire on 31st December.

However, after lengthy closed door discussions culminating in an all-day session yesterday, Britney’s court-appointed lawyer told the Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner in charge of the case that Britney had no objections to the order being made permanent.

Court Commissioner Reva Goetz, who has overseen the case throughout, explained: “The court finds the proposed permanent conservatorship is necessary and appropriate [because of the] complexities of her financial and business entities and also potential for her being susceptible to influences.”

A source close to the Spears family though explained that the “permanent” order might not be forever, it simply stops them having to keep wasting time and money extending the temporary order: “This is by no means something that’s going to last forever.

“The conservatorship being made permanent in name is primarily to ensure increased time with her children, and provide support for her music and work goals.”

Britney’s new single ‘Womanizer’ is released in the UK next week, followed by her sixth studio album ‘Circus’ at the beginning of December.
