suzanne shawSuzanne Shaw has revealed she was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome two months ago.

The former Hear’Say star, who won the last series of Dancing on Ice told New magazine this week: “After I finished [performing in the West End’s version of] Chicago, we went on holiday to Mallorca, where Jason and I got engaged, and I slept the entire time.

“I’d force myself out of bed to watch [son] Corey in the pool, but didn’t have the energy to join him. When we got home, I’d get up, take Corey to nursery and sleep until I had to pick him up.

“So I went to the doctor over the summer and started getting loads of blood tests done. I had all these symptoms. I had mastitis - my boobs were swollen - and my joints ached. I thought I was dying - I got so paranoid.

“I had swollen hands and hot sweats, so I thought I was going through the menopause. Blood tests revealed I had a bacterial blood infection and anaemia, so I went on antibiotics and iron tablets.

“But I still wasn’t better so the GP diagnosed chronic fatigue syndrome, which is common if you have highs and lows in your life.”

But a diagnosis hasn’t made the problem go away: “I’m still not OK - this morning I almost fell asleep into my baked beans. It’s very scary because I remember her having two years off work and not getting out of bed, so I’m panicking thinking, ‘Is it going to be that bad? Am I going to be bedridden?’”
