The Sugababes: we might boycott the Brits unless we get an award
The Sugababes have said they’re tempted to boycott the Brit Awards next year unless they get nominated.
Since their debut a decade ago, the Sugababes have sold more than 5.5million albums and more than 2million singles, resulting in six No1s and a further nine Top 10 singles - but aside from a 2003 win for the now defunct award British Dance Act (when they don’t consider themselves a dance act), they’ve not picked up a single trophy at the awards ceremony despite six nominations.
Keisha Buchanan told the Mirror: “I say this in the most humble way but when you think of pop bands the Sugababes are definitely up there. We’re British for God’s sake and we’ve done well.
“Surely we deserve an award after all the hard work we’ve done?”
Bandmate Amelle Berrabah added: “I’m telling you, if they don’t nominate us this year, that’s it, I’m done. I’m not going.
“They should sack all those old men on the board and leave it to the fans to decide. They don’t know what they are talking about.
