The actress was pulled over by police in Santa Barbara, California after she was spotted “driving erratically” in a car park. She was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and under the influence of a controlled substance and was kept in police custody overnight.

Tests found no alcohol or illegal drugs in her system but she has been charged with driving under the influence of prescription drugs related to her anxiety and depression.

Santa Barbara County Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter said yesterday that she’s been charged because the drugs “could have impaired her ability to safely drive a motor vehicle”.

She will appear in court over the charge in January and could face up to six months in jail if convicted, but is more likely to receive a fine and probation.
