Reese Witherspoon praises Ryan Phillippe’s fathering skills

Reese Witherspoon has praised ex-husband Ryan Phillippe’s abilities as a father.

The couple separated in October 2006 but have continued to share custody and responsibility for their two children, nine year old daughter Ava and five year old son Deacon.

She told Parade magazine recently: “My ex-husband is very involved in raising our beautiful children.

“I’m very lucky in that we raise our kids to just be happy. I think the most important thing is the children. What do they want, what makes them feel comfortable?

“We’re very lucky because we both grew up in working families in middle America. We’re on the same page that way.

“When we’re with our children, we’re very good about checking ourselves. I’m teaching the children what we were taught growing up - a real set of rules, discipline and love.”
