Lily Allen & Agyness Deyn were strip searched on way to £20million party in Dubai
Lily Allen and Agyness Deyn, and her boyfriend Albert Hammond Jr, have revealed they were all strip searched on their way into Dubai.
The trio were amongst the flanks of celebrities and pop stars drafted into the United Arab Emirates to attend the grand opening of the £1.5billion Atlantis Palms Hotel on the man-made Palm Jumeirah Island - but were stopped at the airport on their way to the £20million celebration, which included a 10 song set by Kylie Minogue.
Lily explained: “I was strip searched, which was so nice as soon as you arrive. I knew I didn’t have anything on me so I wasn’t worried. I wasn’t paranoid, just terrified.
“It was at the airport and took more than an hour. It was really scary as they didn’t tell you what they were doing, they just said, ‘Take off trousers’ and I was like, ‘Ahhh, help!’”
Supermodel Agyness added: “Both Albert and I were strip-searched. It was really traumatic. It wasn’t the best experience in the world but it is their culture and you just have to respect it.”
UAE has notoriously strict drug laws, which have resulted in a large number of visitors to the country being charged for possession of minute quantities of drugs or even standard over the counter medicines, and receiving a mandatory four-year prison sentence.
