heidi montag and spencer prattHeidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have dismissed suggestions that their wedding last week was just a publicity stunt - but admit they’re not legally man and wife.

The couple married in a secret ceremony in Mexico last Thursday without even telling their families of their plans. The ceremony was filmed for Heidi’s reality show The Hills and was covered by Us Weekly - and the cameras will follow them on their honeymoon too.

Spencer told the magazine: “We had a beautiful ceremony here at One & Only Palmilla officiated by a minister and photographed by the hotel photographer. We’ve never been happier.

“Like other elopements that happen outside the country, we’ll take care of the legal details when we get home.”

The Hills co-stars Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port have offered congratulations to the perpetually loved up pair.

Audrina said she was excited for the pair “and I hope they have a long and happy marriage”: “When you spend time with the two of them, it’s obvious how much they love each other, and how committed they are. Their wedding sounds like it was very intimate and romantic.”

Whitney added: “I think it’s great if that’s what they’re ready to do. Good for them.”
