reese witherspoonReese Witherspoon has revealed she resists trying to spoil her children at Christmas.

The Four Christmases star has two children - nine year old daughter Ava and five year old son Deacon - from her marriage to Ryan Phillippe but she explained recently that she’s been so busy promoting her new festive film that she’s “just not getting into the spirit” of the season.

She explained: “After I get done with this tour, I’m going to definitely start doing the Christmas shopping, the whole thing.”

But she won’t have to spend too much time pounding the shop floor in search of stack of toys: “I’m a little strict about that kind of stuff. I think kids do best when they only have a couple of things that they really enjoy.

“I try and stay away from the gluttony of things. They don’t appreciate it as much. When they only get one or two things, they really like it.”

She added the kids have also developed a little tradition - dressing up the Oscar she won for her role in Walk the Line: “Yes, at Christmas time, they put a little hat on him and a little scarf so he doesn’t get cold.”
