Britney Spears: I let bad people into my life because I was lonely
Britney Spears has said she let “bad people” into her life because she was lonely.
In her promotional documentary Britney: For the Record which was screened in the US on MTV and in the UK on SkyOne last night, the singer explained that after her marriage to Kevin Federline collapsed in late 2006: “I felt so alone. I didn’t want to think about it.”
The star, who turns 27 today, first started partying to excess with Paris Hilton but within a few months, was generally only seen with her cousin and assistant Alli Sims, her “advisor/manager” Sam Lutfi and various boyflings including producer Jonathan “JR” Rotem, a mystery rehab boyfriend, and at the end of the year, with paparazzo Adnan Ghalib.
Without naming names, she explained: “I let bad people in because I was lonely and I really paid the consequences for that big time.
“I am very protective of myself. Sometimes it can get kind of lonely.”
She added she finds it hard to be truly happy (because “you’re scared it’s going to be taken away, so it’s better just not to feel anything”) but her perfect fantasy would be living on an island with Mr Right and her two sons, Sean and Jayden: “That would be heaven for me. No one could get to us.
“When I really love somebody, I give my all. I can’t get enough. I need to be around them all the time.
“It’s just the best feeling in the world.”
Britney’s new album ‘Circus’, her sixth studio album, was released in the UK yesterday.
Do you think Katie Price's marriage to Alex Reid will last?
