Heidi Montag’s mum: I give her marriage to Spencer Pratt six months, max

Heidi Montag’s mum has said she doubts her daughter’s marriage to The Hills co-star Spencer Pratt will last more than six months.

The couple of two years married in secret in Mexico late last month, only telling their families of their union after the ceremony. (The couple will have to exchange their vows a second time in the US for it to be legal.) After a week’s honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, the pair returned to Los Angeles earlier this week.

Heidi’s mum Darlene Egelhoff told Us Weekly: “I’m confident the marriage won’t work out. I give it six months. I think it’s the biggest mistake Heidi’s ever made.

“She’s too young to get married, and Spencer has cut everyone out of her life. He and I have never gotten along. He’s disrespectful and rude.

“I want the best for my daughter - and he’s definitely not it. I think Spencer wants to possess Heidi more than marry her. He’s manipulative and seems to have power over Heidi. I would like to see a blood test from Mexico. It wouldn’t surprise me if he had her drugged.”

“I’ve been honest with Heidi, and it’s caused our relationship to decline. I’m more devastated about that than the marriage.

“God says love your enemies, but I never expected it to be my son-in-law.”

Heidi herself told the magazine that the prospect of her mum “starting so much drama” was one of the reasons they eloped in the first place: “She should be happy I found someone I love. Some people go their entire lives without finding that.”
