madonnaMadonna’s much rumoured boyfling Alex Rodriguez has denied there is anything romantic going on between him and the singer.

Baseball star A-Rod has been linked to Madonna since the early summer when his wife filed for divorce and claimed he was having a “spiritual affair” with the star. Madonna denied a romance but rumours picked up a pace after she officially separated from husband Guy Ritchie in October and she and Alex have been repeatedly linked since then.

However, the New York Yankees star insists: “We’re friends - that’s it.

“I have a lot of respect for her. She’s had an amazing career [and] she’s very committed to making the world a better place.”

He also denied rumours that he’s been flying around North America - and now South & Central America - to accompany her on her Sticky & Sweet Tour: “I can tell you this, I have never been on a plane with her.

“I’ve been to two [of her] concerts, yet I’ve read that I went to 20. I’ve also read that we were buying an apartment together. That is absolutely ridiculous and not true.”

He added he still has a “wonderful relationship” with his now estranged wife Cynthia Rodriguez and they “try to be the best parents we can” to their four year old daughter Natasha and seven month old daughter Ella: “I see my children, honestly, seven days a week, which has been great. We both have a lot of respect for each other and she’s a great lady.”
