Eoghan Quigg left in tears after Diana Vickers is voted off the X Factor

Eoghan Quigg was left in tears after “bessie mate” Diana Vickers was voted off The X Factor last night.

Diana was voted off after performing a cover of Avril Lavigne’s ‘Girlfriend’ and Dido’s White Flag, leaving Eoghan to go into next week’s final alongside boyband JLS and Cheryl Cole’s remaining contestant Alexandra Burke.

After the verdict was announced, both Diana and Eoghan burst into tears.

She went on to tell presenter Dermot O’Leary: “I’ve absolutely loved it [on the show], I’ve had the time of my life.

“I’ve met some amazing people, like little Eoghan. I just can’t believe it’s happened.”

Eoghan, who is said to have been inconsolable backstage after the show ended, added: “I’m losing my best friend.

“I thought she would win it. She is amazing. I can’t believe she is gone.”

The pair were later snapped in a car leaving the studio together holding hands - but have continue to deny rumours of a romance.
