Tom Cruise: I’d love it for Suri Cruise to go into acting
Tom Cruise has said he thinks it would be great if his daughter Suri Cruise followed in his and wife Katie Holmes‘ acting footsteps - but only if she really, really wants to do it.
Tom’s son Connor from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman recently made his big screen debut as the younger version of Will Smith’s character in Seven Pounds - and speaking at the premiere of his new film Valkyrie, Tom explained that he’d support Suri if she wanted to act too: “She can be whatever she wants. All my kids [can do] whatever they want to do in life.
“When I was growing up, I always wanted to travel the world. I wanted to not just be enveloped by different cultures, but learn about their history and how they do things. And that’s how I raise my kids - so that they have full exposure to the world, and all different kinds of ideas and possibilities so that they can make choices themselves.
“I’d love it [if she wanted to act]. Acting is work that I love. I love to create life and give energy, create characters and create stories. It’s a lot of fun.”
“[But] I do have a thing - if you want to do it, really do it. Don’t be passive about it.”
He added that even though she’s only two and a half, the budding fashionista is already familiar with life on movie sets: “She’ll watch the monitor and talk [about what’s happening].
But it took her a while for her to get used to her dad’s costume - including an eye patch - in the new film: “Suri would come up to me and take it off,.
“So the girls in the makeup trailer got a little teddy bear with a patch on it and gave it to her and so she would play with it. That she would get used to the fact it was on me.”
Do you think Katie Price's marriage to Alex Reid will last?
