Robbie Williams: I need to move back to Britain again
Robbie Williams has said he’s glad he moved to Los Angeles but is looking forward to returning to life in the UK next year.
The singer moved to the US five years ago, looking to hide in relative obscurity after failing to crack the country’s music scene, but is now said to have bought a new home in England with the view of returning permanently after he finishes his new solo album next year.
Writing on his blog recently, he explained: “I had to go away [from Britain], how could anybody miss you when you’re always there? But I’ve had enough here for now.
“It was my recent trip to England that did it. I felt plugged in. Roots! I really miss it.
“Back in Blighty I listened to the radio in the car, watched what and who was on the telly and then it all came back.
“For all its crap weather, I need to be among Brits again. That’s not a slight to my current hosts, indeed I’ve been to some wonderful places and met some amazing folk here in the US.
“It’s just that Los Angeles isn’t America, if you catch my drift?”
Robbie is also said to be planning another return - to rejoin Take That, the boyband he left in 1994.
