rachel stevensRachel Stevens has revealed she cried for hours after losing out on the Strictly Come Dancing crown.

The former S Club star and partner Vincent Simone came in second place in Saturday’s final behind Holby City star Tom Chambers.

She told the Sun that while she kept it together until the end of the show, after the cameras were switched off she was “overcome with emotion”: “Everything was too much. I bawled - I was a blubbering wreck.

“I was so elated to get through to the final two. But I did stand there just thinking, ‘Please say Rachel and Vincent!’

“I had a sixth sense Tom would do it. He has a massive fan-base out there and people love him. He was always going to do it.

“But to win would have been the icing on the cake. I’d have been so proud. I adore Vincent and I’d have loved to have won it for him. He is an amazing guy and I knew how much he wanted it.”

But she found plenty of comfort in the arms of her mum and fiance Alex Bourne: “My mum said, ‘You’re a winner to me, I can’t tell you how well you’ve done, you’ve inspired me.’

“Alex was the same. He took me away and gave me a hug.”

After 14 weeks of dancing, she added that Alex is quite glad her saucy dances with Vincent have come to an end: “The rumba was by far my favourite dance, but it was difficult for Alex to watch.

“He has been amazing. It has not been easy for him. I can’t imagine how I would feel.

“But we really do trust each other. And Alex and Vincent are like two old women when they get together.”
