Alexandra BurkeAlexandra Burke has revealed that Harrods’ owner Mohamed Al Fayed is not just letting her have a shopping spree at his store - he’s also offered to pay for medical treatment for her mum.

Alexandra’s mum, former Soul II Soul singer Melissa Bell had to miss being in the audience for several of Alex’s X Factor heats because she was left too exhausted after kidney dialysis. Melissa suffers from diabetes-induced kidney failure but as she has a rare blood group, the chances of finding her a donor kidney are slim.

Now Alex has revealed that Mohamed Al Fayed has said he’ll do all he can to help Melissa, telling Alex: “I’m going to get my doctors to fly over to see her.”

Alex is also considering getting Melissa her own dialysis machine to use at home to save her having to travel to hospital for the treatment.

The 20 year old singer landed this year’s Christmas No 1 slot on Sunday after her debut single, a cover of ‘Hallelujah’, sold a record number of copies in its first week of release to clinch the top spot.
