Britney Spears’ lawyers back on board as she considers psych tests
Britney Spears has one less thing to worry about: her legal team have withdrawn their request to dump the star as a client.
Law firm Trope & Trope has represented Britney since she was dumped by previous lawyer Laura Wasser in September but asked to withdraw their representation earlier this month after a breakdown in communication.
However despite the star’s fleeting appearance at court yesterday, they have now decided to remain on board. Los Angeles Superior Court spokesperson confirmed the request withdrawal yesterday and Kevin Federline’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan said he was pleased with his opposing counsel’s decision: “It will make dealing with this case easier. They are highly skilled and highly professional. They know the case, they know the law, and they know me.”
The legal team are said to have changed their mind after Britney finally spent two hours in a deposition hearing on Monday - a sign that the singer may be coming more cooperative.
A source explained: “They feel they’ve come through the worst and she’s starting to realise she needs to pull herself together to see her kids again. She’s working out that her lawyers to help her and to do that, she needs to help them - so hopefully she will from now on.”
Britney is also said to be growing more receptive to the idea of undergoing psychological tests on an outpatient basis in order to ascertain whether or not she is suffering from a mental disorder. Court commissioner Scott Gordon is said to have repeated ordered her to undergo the tests but up until now she has refused to enter treatment. However, the new plan would allow medical professionals to “evaluate and treat” her condition without her needing to check into a residential facility.
A source told TMZ that Britney is considering the idea and if she agrees, the process will begin immediately.
