jade goodyJade Goody is reportedly expected to undergo emergency surgery today to repair a blocked kidney.

The former Big Brother star was found to be having kidney problems after a series of hospital tests on Wednesday. She had been called in to see doctors after chemotherapy left her with a compromised immune system and flu-like symptoms forced her to pull out of her pantomime role over Christmas.

A source told the Sun that doctors are unsure as to the cause of the blockage but worry it will lead to kidney failure if untreated: “[The operation] needs to be done straight away.

“Doctors will see how she feels afterwards before deciding if she can leave hospital.

“Because she is so prone to infection, every op becomes more serious than it would be for a healthy person.”

The source added: “Jade is being brave and trying to remain upbeat but it’s a worrying time.”

Theatre bosses overseeing Jade’s appearance in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs have been told not to expect the reality TV star to return to her role as the Wicked Witch before the show ends later this month. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer last August.
