Katy Perry splits from boyfriend Travis McCoy

Katy Perry has reportedly split from boyfriend of a year, Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy.

The couple spent Christmas together in Mexico but are said to have split up shortly before New Year.

A source close to Katy told Us Weekly: “It’s sad, but they were fighting a lot because they never saw each other and now she is going on tour.

“She just needed a clear head. It’s been non-stop work for her.

“[The split]’s a hardship, but she’s regrouping.”

Travis hinted at the split on his blog in a post on New Year’s Eve where he posted lyrics from a song about arguing and fighting, then added: “My Laptop is my new b****. LOYAL. LISTENS. and NEVER LET’S ME DOWN.”

Katy spent the final night of 2008 performing at the Gridlock New Year’s Eve party at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles. A fellow partygoer told People magazine: “She hung out with her friends all night. She was in a great mood. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.”
