amy winehouseAmy Winehouse is reportedly been offered a film role - but only if she gets healthy.

The singer spent much of last autumn in and out of hospital receiving treatment for side effects of her drug abuse - and attempting to leave her old habits behind - before jetting off to the Caribbean for a luxury holiday in St Lucia before Christmas. Last week she confirmed that she’d extended her stay on the island because she was having so much fun, but insisted that it wasn’t chemical-induced fun and she’d been drug-free during her holiday.

Now she is said to have been sent the film script by Universal Pictures, which would see her cast as a music teacher in a difficult school: “The movie is a bit like Michelle Pfeiffer’s film Dangerous Minds. Playing a music teacher will allow Amy to use her singing skills.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers is being talked about as her co-star.

“She has been offered an acting coach from the Royal Academy of Music Theatre Department in London. But she needs to improve her health and state of mind, or the opportunity will be withdrawn.

“You can’t have a teacher looking like a scrawny crack addict. It’s hoped the offer will be an incentive for her.”
