Boy George jailed for 15 months for “gratuitous violence”
Boy George has been jailed for 15 months after being convicted of holding a man hostage in his east London flat.
Last month George, real name George O’Dowd, was found guilty of falsely imprisoning the man in his Shoreditch home after meeting victum Audun Carlsen online.
George denied the charge, claiming Carlsen had stolen photos from the laptop and that he only handcuffed him to a wall during the incident in April 2007 while he investigated the theft.
However, at the sentencing today Judge David Radford told George he was guilty of “gratuitous violence” for beating the helpless Carlsen and sentenced him to 15 months in prison.
