Billie Piper: I never imagined being a mum would be so hard

Billie Piper has revealed that she hadn’t anticipated just how hard motherhood would be.

The former Doctor Who star gave birth to son Winston last October and until a recent run of promotional work for Secret Diary of a Call Girl in the US, she has largely been a full time mum — but that’s not made the job any easier.

She told Hello! magazine recently: “I had absolutely no idea how tiring being a mum was - or how hard mums have to work.

“I have worked some sh**ty hours in my life, but these are the toughest I’ve ever had.”

“[Winston]’s a restless sleeper. He gives us hope, then he changes his routine.”

But she wouldn’t give it up for anything: “That feeling of unconditional love. I used to think it was so cheesy when people said that before, but it’s something I finally understand. The smiling… it’s amazing. And having a new best friend for life.”
